I was approached by Paul Godman in 2003  to compose a symphonic work for the North Warwickshire Chamber Orchestra. This resulted in the set of variations entitled “Unseen Pictures”. It was first performed in July 2003 in Bedworth Civic Hall.

Three years later, Paul suggested to me that I write a piece for string orchestra and sax quartet - “The Four Elements”. This piece received its first performance in March 2007 In St John’s Church, Nuneaton, and featured the members of Sax Blue Saxophone quartet as well as the string players of the orchestra. It was performed again at St George’s Church in Coventry.

ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

The North Warwickshire Chamber Orchestra was founded by Nuneaton GP and pianist Dr. Stephen Jones, and gave its first performance in March 1997 at Holy Trinity Church, Attleborough, in Nuneaton. The orchestra has been conducted since 2002 by Paul Godman and has successfully brought quality music-making to North Warwickshire. It has since gone from strength to strength, drawing increasingly larger audiences and performing a diverse yet popular repertoire. Performances so far have varied from smaller scale chamber works such as the Mozart 13 Winds Serenade, to larger symphonic pieces, and most programmes have included music from across the centuries up to the present day.
